Infratil Airports Europe Ltd. (IAEL) announced today (December 23) that it has appointed the Nuance Group as the new Tax and Duty-Free operator at Glasgow Prestwick, Scotland's fastest-growing airport.
The Nuance Group is the world's largest travel retailer, operating 320 shops at 57 airports in 17 countries. The company is jointly owned by the Italian shareholders GECOS/Gruppo PAM and Stefanel and employs some 5300 personnel (4700 full-time equivalents).
A seven-year contract has been awarded and, from February, Nuance will operate from the existing store, comprising 312 sq metres, which has been run in-house for a number of years.
Nuance will offer liquor, tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics as well as confectionery, gifts, technology, souvenirs and fashion accessories. The fashion offer will primarily feature sunglasses and a choice of Bijoux Terner products.
The partners have agreed on an enhancement of the existing offer during the third year of the contract.
Nuance has also been offered the opportunity to partner with IAEL at their two other airport locations - at Kent International and Lubeck in Germany.
Kate Thripp, IAEL General Manager Commercial, comments: "I am delighted to award Nuance the contract at Glasgow Prestwick and we are also excited about future prospects across the Infratil Group.
"We currently have a supply agreement with Nuance subsidiary, Ocean Trading, and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to develop that relationship. Nuance displayed real flair and understanding in empathising with the IAEL vision to provide a unique shopping experience for all of our passengers."
Carlo Bernasconi, CEO Europe for The Nuance Group, says: "We are pleased to have been awarded this concession and thereby to have gained another foothold in the important UK market. We now look forward to working in close relationship with the airport authority to provide our joint customer with an excellent shopping experience."
