Energy Developments Limited (ENE.AX) Managing Director Appointment.

Mr Michael Brown, Chairman of Energy Developments (ENE) today announced the appointment of Mr Chris Laurie as Managing Director of ENE, with immediate effect. Mr Laurie had previously been Acting Managing Director.

"I am delighted that one of my first tasks as Chairman of ENE is the appointment of Chris Laurie to this role. With a background of over twenty years in the electricity and gas industries in Australasia and around the globe, Chris brings extensive industry and management experience to this position.

Chris' past responsibilities extend over both publicly listed and private companies operating internationally in businesses covering, appliance retail, technology, consulting, contracting and energy companies. His broad background will be invaluable to Energy Developments."

Mr Laurie said "Having been Managing Director in an acting capacity since November 2002, I feel well prepared for and excited by the opportunity to lead ENE forward as a leader in the global renewable energy field".

Mr Laurie was previously Chief Executive/Managing Director of Orion New Zealand Limited (Orion) (www.oriongroup.co.nz) a position he has held since 1988. Mr Laurie was appointed a Non Executive Director of ENE when Orion became a substantial shareholder in ENE in July 2002.

Mr Laurie was appointed Acting Managing Director of ENE in November 2002 and his appointment follows an executive search program.

Mr Laurie previously held various management positions in New Zealand at the NZ Electricity Corporation, Canterbury Drainage Board, and Otago Central Electric Power Board. Mr Laurie served as a Director of Transpower NZ Ltd, a high voltage grid owner/operator from 1988 until 1994 and Enerco New Zealand Ltd, a publicly listed gas retailer and
network owner/operator from 1993 until 1999.

With Mr Laurie's appointment as an Executive Director of ENE and departure from Orion, the Company expects that Orion will nominate a new Board representative under the terms of the existing shareholder's agreement between Orion and ENE.
