Infratil Appoints New Director

Kevin O'Connor, the Chairman of Infratil, is pleased to announce that Hon. David Caygill has been appointed a Director of Infratil.

David has served on the Christchurch City Council (1971-80) and as a Member of Parliament (1978-96). During the fourth Labour Government he was Minister of Trade and Industry (1984-88), Minister of Health (1987-88) and Minister of Finance (1989-90). Between 1993-96 David was Deputy-Leader of the Opposition.

Following his retirement from politics in 1996 David became a partner in the national legal firm of Buddle Findlay, specialising in public law. In addition to his legal responsibilities, David served on a number of outside bodies, including as chair of the Accident Compensation Corporation, the electricity industry's Grid Security Committee, and Education New Zealand. In 2000 he chaired the Ministerial Inquiry into the Electricity Industry.

David has recently been appointed Deputy-Chair of the Commerce Commission.
