Glasgow Prestwick East meets Scotland's West

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is delighted that Ryanair today (Wednesday, 13th July 2005) announced a brand new route from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Krakow (Poland). The new route will commence operation on November 1st 2005 and will operate 3 times weekly.

Steven Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Glasgow Prestwick Airport welcomed Ryanair's announcement, saying:

"Glasgow Prestwick is delighted to link the West Coast of Scotland directly to another exciting European City. Direct
services slash hours off flights that require transfers in London. This is crucial for business links and can stretch precious holidays further."

With 20 direct scheduled European destinations, Glasgow Prestwick is becoming THE place to travel to and from Scotland.

Krakow in Poland is a Pure dead Brilliant new destination. There is a thriving Polish community in Scotland, with strong periods of immigration from the 1930s and 40s through to today. This convenient and affordable new route will enable friends and families to get together more often.

Krakow is also a fabulous tourist destination, considered a real gem of Eastern Europe in the mould of Prague.

Scotland also has increasingly important business links with Poland and Ashley Evans, Chief Executive of Electronics Scotland added his support saying,

"his is a really positive move for businesses in Scotland following recent research carried out by Electronics Scotland. Poland is an important market from the point of view of trade and bringing resources into Scotland. I am sure this links well with the Scottish Executives initiative on fresh talent and infrastructure for the Scottish Economy."

Yesterday the Airport gained another new destination opportunity to Turkey, Scottravel Holidays, Scotland's leading Turkish specialist tour operator announced an exciting new route to Dalaman from Scotland's fastest-growing airport next summer.

This year Glasgow Prestwick will see in excess of 2.6m pass
through the Airport, bringing around 1.3m visitors to the tourism economy, continuing to be a huge boost to the Scottish Economy.
