On 19 May 2005, the upgraded landside terminal facilities were unveiled and a new visual image launched, featuring inspiring imagery, bright new colours, humorous illustrations and a tag line 'Pure dead Brilliant'. The energetic and light-hearted new look and feel has been enthusiastically welcomed by customers and staff and it has transformed a tired looking terminal. The launch attracted a great deal of media interest, and commentary on the tag line has resulted in follow-up articles running over a series of weeks in Ayrshire and Glasgow newspapers. The terminal upgrade has created three new retail outlets. Fit out of these units is underway, with additional trading to commence in June and July. The positive atmosphere created in the terminal, and alterations made to existing retail outlets to increase visibility, is also expected to boost contributions from retail concessions and advertising. The next stage of development will be an upgrade of the airside retailing, with work expected to commence after the summer peak is over.
