Ryanair launches two new routes from Glasgow Prestwick

7 Dec 2005

RYANAIR, Europe's No. 1 low fares airline, today (7th December 2005) announced two new international routes from Glasgow Prestwick airport to Barcelona Reus and Marseille. Barcelona will start on the 23rd Feb 2006 and Marseille will start on the 24th Feb 2006. Both routes will operate 3 times weekly.

Announcing the route development from Glasgow Prestwick airport today, Ryanair's Deputy Head of Sales & Marketing Europe, Caroline Baldwin said: "With the addition of Barcelona and Marseille, Ryanair now has 20 routes from Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Passengers have been crying out for more low fares from Ryanair and these 2 new routes to Barcelona and Marseille really put Glasgow Prestwick on the
international map.

"These are fantastic short break destinations. With the strength of the Pound against the Euro, shopping in the Ramblas in Barcelona has never been so affordable. The amount you'll save on buying your clothes abroad will pay for the flight, with plenty left over! Marseille, France's second city and gateway to Provence, offers a dynamic downtown, a medieval village-style neighbourhood, downtown shopping and wonderful seafood.

"Barcelona and Marseille are available to book today on www.ryanair.com. We urge passengers to book before Christmas as demand will be very strong."

Glasgow Prestwick Chief Executive Steve Fitzgerald said: "I am delighted to see further growth into Spain and France from Glasgow Prestwick, and I am confident these new destinations will be hugely popular with Scottish travellers.

"Marseille, the second largest city in France, is our first
Ryanair route into the South of France. It's the gateway to Provence, it's stunningly located on the Mediterranean, and is currently enjoying a cultural renaissance as fashion, film and hi-tech companies relocate there.

"Reus Salou, on the beautiful Costa Dorada, is another hot and sunny Spanish resort for Scots. Miles of sandy beaches and great nightlife will ensure this is a excellent year-round destination.

"Not only can passengers take advantage of Ryanair's fantastic fares but they will also receive free rail travel
to and from anywhere in Scotland to get to and from the airport."
