Domestic passengers grew by 2.3% for the month of March, despite a 1% reduction seat capacity. Seat load factor was 78%. This brings year end domestic passenger growth to 0.9% on the previous year. International passengers grew by 10.6% in March on seat growth of 3.6%. International seat load factor was 74%. For the full year, international passengers grew 1.8% on the previous year. Passenger growth is outstripping growth in seats. With announced Air New Zealand seat reductions on the Tasman due in April, this trend is likely to continue.
Retail leasing in the terminal is continuing with two new stores currently under construction (Kia Kaha and Oceanic Arts), with two other leases and outlets also in the pipeline. Car parking works are continuing to schedule.
The Southern RESA is close to completion with work on the northern RESA in advanced design. The next stage of the terminal works has commenced, requiring the temporary removal of one aerobridge (in order to install an additional aerobridge gate).
The pricing consultation is continuing and there have recently been constructive discussions with all major airlines and the Board of Airline Representatives.
