Infratil Breaks into the NZX 10 Index

11 Mar 2008

Infratil has gained a place in the NZX 10 Index, and Nuplex Industries is to join the NZX 15 index, following the latest NZX Index review.

Infratil will replace Vector in the NZX 10 Index and Nuplex Industries will replace Air New Zealand in the NZX 15 Index.

The NZX Equity Indices are the primary benchmarks for the New Zealand sharemarket, and are widely used by investment professionals and the general public. The NZX 10 Index and the NZX 15 Index comprise the securities of the largest and most liquid companies quoted on the NZSX market.

Infratil Executive, Tim Brown said, "We are delighted to achieve a place in the NZX 10 Index. Over the last 14 years Infratil has been one of the strongest investments on the NZX providing an average return to shareholders of over 20% per annum after tax.

"We are committed to maintaining strong performance into the future and are in the right businesses to achieve this outcome notwithstanding current capital market conditions."

Index changes announced today are effective from Monday 1 April 2008, the first trading day of the next quarter.

Changes to the NZX Equity Indices in no way reflect an opinion on any NZX Listed Issuer - they are determined solely by the NZX Index Methodology. These index changes arise from NZX's regular Quarterly Index Review schedule. Quarterly Index Reviews are conducted in March, June, September and December of each year.
