Glasgow Prestwick International Airport Appoints New Chief Executive

Mr Phil Walker, Chairman of Glasgow Prestwick International Airport ("GPIA"), today (5 November 2004) announced the appointment of Mr Steven Fitzgerald as the new Chief Executive of GPIA.

Mr Fitzgerald (36) joins GPIA following an extensive career in the aviation and infrastructure sectors.

He joins GPIA from Sydney Airport Corporation Limited ("SACL") where he has been General Manager, Airport Operations. Sydney Airport is Australasia's largest airport with over 26.4 million passengers, 267,000 aircraft movements and total revenue of A$548 million (£220m) per year. Sydney Airport is served by 41 passenger airlines and 9 dedicated freight operators.

Prior to becoming GM Airport Operations at SACL, Mr Fitzgerald was Head of Commercial Trading and played a key role in the development of SACL's retail, property and trading activities. His other aviation experience includes senior roles with the Australian Department of Transport overseeing the privatisation of Australia's airport infrastructure and investigating the options for expanded airport capacity in the Sydney basin area.

Mr Fitzgerald has a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. He is married with a young son.

Mr Fitzgerald will take up his new role early in the New Year.
