Port of Tauranga announces new Chief Executive

4 Aug 2005

The Port of Tauranga today announced the appointment of Mark Cairns as the Company's new Chief Executive.

Mark Cairns is currently Chief Executive of Toll Owens Limited, the 50-50 joint venture between Port of Tauranga and Toll Logistics New Zealand that provides marshalling and stevedoring services at 11 ports throughout New Zealand.

Mr Cairns will fill the vacancy left by Jon Mayson who is stepping aside after 33 years with the Port, nine of which have been as Chief Executive.

Chairman, John Parker, said the Company had conducted a vigorous international search for Mr Mayson's replacement.

"It is a tribute to the leadership of Jon Mayson that after a substantial search we have found his successor from within his wider management team.

"I am delighted that someone with such a long association with both the Company and with Tauranga has come through this process and is ready to step into this role.

"Mark is already well regarded by many of our customers and shareholders and is familiar with the culture, strategies and strengths of the management team that have collectively been responsible for the Port's growth over many years."

As previously indicated, Jon Mayson will officially hand over to Mark Cairns after the Company's Annual Meeting in October, but will remain at the Port until the end of the year.
