Ryanair announces new route from Glasgow Prestwick to Wroclaw Poland

29 Mar 2006

Ryanair, Europe's largest low fares airline, today (Wednesday 29 March 2006) announced a new route from Glasgow Prestwick to Wroclaw in Poland.

The new route to Wroclaw will commence on August 1 and have three departures per week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Ryanair currently operates twenty routes out of Glasgow Prestwick and the new destination will add at least 40,000 additional passengers to the airport in the first year of flying.

Announcing the new route in Glasgow today, Ryanair's Deputy UK Sales and Marketing Manager Karl Hogstadius said: "With the new route to Wroclaw, Ryanair continues its expansion at Glasgow Prestwick and adds a second route to Poland after Krakow.

"The three departures per week offer an easy escape to the west of Poland and for the first year we expect to carry at least 40,000 passengers on the route. Wroclaw is a bustling town which offers cheap shopping, great night life and a rich cultural heritage. The new route is on sale starting today at fares from just £5.49*. Get online on www.ryanair.com and book your flight to Poland."

Mark Rodwell, Chief Executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, commented: "We are delighted that Ryanair has today announced a new direct route to Wroclaw which, as well as being an exciting and cosmopolitan destination, is a proud city with a strong sense of history and culture.

"This takes the number of direct Polish routes from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to four and, given that the destinations are well spaced out, it means we are providing strong coverage in a growing marketplace."

Passengers travelling on the new route are entitled to free rail travel to and from anywhere in Scotland for the first six months of operation and half price thereafter. Passengers simply present their official flight confirmation at the airport information desk or any staffed railway station to take advantage of the offer.
