Infratil Airports Europe January 2007 Traffic Statistics

15 Feb 2007

Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Glasgow Prestwick handled a total of 146,586 passengers in January 2007 against 145,492 in 2006.

The modest increase is consistent with the recent plateau and slight reduction in Ryanair services which has been offset by the new Wizz and Transavia services. This is a difficult time of the year, with winter weather, post Christmas bills and increased interest rates all impacting underlying demand.

Freight continues to perform well against the previous year, with a 19% increase to 1,936 tonnes for January.

Kent International Airport
Kent International handled 2,823 tonnes of freight during January. This was another strong performance and was more than double the 1,336 tonnes in January 06. The drop from the December peak of tonnage was in line with expectations given the seasonal nature of the main produce imports.

MK Airlines contributed 29 services, the same number as December, and there were a total of 45 freight services (five more than December), but average loads were lower than the December peak.

Lübeck Airport
Lübeck handled 37,050 passengers in January, down 24% from December although a 10% increase on the prior year total. The year on year improvement reflects the introduction of the Ryanair Dublin and Wizzair Gdansk routes during the year. As with Glasgow Prestwick, January is a traditionally quiet month for the Airport following the busy run up to Christmas and the popular local markets.
