Victoria Electricity secures gas supply

23 Oct 2008

Infratil Energy Australia (“IEA”) has taken a major step in securing the medium term gas supply requirements of its energy retailing business, Victoria Electricity Pty Ltd (“VE”), through execution of a gas supply agreement with Santos.  The agreement for a total of 50PJ commences mid 2009 and goes through to 2012.  This agreement is an important additional step toward IEA’s goals of achieving diversity, flexibility and some added duration in its gas supply book.

“This agreement, underpins VE’s growth in dual fuel retailing to residential and small business customers” said Simon Draper, Managing Director of Victoria Electricity “VE’s commitment to building a sizeable retail business in Victoria reflects the state’s sound policies for competitively set retail prices.”
