Community
Our stakeholders want confidence that Infratil, and its portfolio companies maintain a strong social licence to operate. Infratil seeks to contribute to society in several ways: we invest in things society needs and will need more of in the future, like healthcare and renewable energy; we aspire to provide decent, safe and rewarding work; and we can have a positive impact by investing in the communities in which we operate and by encouraging our portfolio companies to do so as well.
New Zealand Youth Choir
In FY2024, Infratil continued and increased its long-standing support of the New Zealand Youth Choir, an initiative of Choirs Aotearoa New Zealand, with a $100,000 grant.
Singing in a choir is New Zealand’s most popular form of group music. Thousands of people sing with school, church and social choirs.
Our sponsorship helps Choirs Aotearoa develop excellence in performance and teaching, for the good of those singing now and in years to come. Our sponsorship allows the Choir to increase its size and reach, and develop its full potential through performances and recordings.
The New Zealand Youth Choir auditions singers across the country between 18 and 25 years. The Choir has achieved outstanding success since it was formed in 1979 and is led by Rowan Johnston.

Te Rourou Foundation
The Te Rourou Foundation has a vision of an Aotearoa New Zealand where all young people have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. It would like all rangatahi to have a sense of agency. It wants to see each and every young person living a life they value – with a bright future ahead.
Right now, that’s not the reality.
20% of young people in Aotearoa are over-burdened and under-resourced. These young people are being locked out of opportunity by systems and experiences beyond their control, and face ongoing, complex challenges to their health, their education, and their relationships. Many of these excluded and disadvantaged young people will live with material deprivation, struggle to find employment, experience racism, and interact with the justice system and protective services.
The Te Rourou Foundation was established in Aotearoa in 2002. Since then, it has partnered with One NZ to invest more than $50 million, supporting more than 1,000 community organisations. It is proud to be one of the largest corporate philanthropic funders in Aotearoa. The Foundation draws on the resources and skills of the One NZ team, allowing them to blend digital investment, corporate partnerships, operational and communications support, advocacy, and mentoring with philanthropic funding to build fast-paced, sustainable, and measurable change.
